How much does it cost to hire a magician in London?

Most bookings across London start from around £400. The exact fee depends on: The type of event (wedding, corporate, private party, family event), The day and time (peak Saturdays vs midweek), How long you'd like me to perform, Whether you want one period covered (for example, drinks reception) or multiple parts of the day. Once you tell me a few details about your event, I'll put together a clear, fixed quote with no hidden extras.

What's included in your fee?

Every quote includes: Professional close-up magic and mind-reading tailored to your event, All performance materials and props, Travel within London and most Greater London areas, Full public liability insurance. If your venue is further afield or you'd like additional coverage (for example, both the drinks reception and the evening reception), I'll outline that clearly in your quote.

How far in advance should we book?

For peak Saturdays, bank holidays and December dates in London, I'm often booked several months in advance. If you already have a date and venue, it's worth checking availability as soon as you can. That said, it's always worth asking – if I'm free and can reach your venue in time, I'm happy to help with short-notice bookings too.

I'm based in London and perform across: Central London – City, Westminster, London Bridge, South Bank, West & West End – Mayfair, Soho, Covent Garden, Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, North & East – Hampstead, Highgate, Islington, Shoreditch, Canary Wharf, South & Greater London – Richmond, Kew, Wimbledon, Greenwich, Bromley and beyond. Travel within London and most Greater London venues is included in standard pricing. If your event is slightly further out, I'll let you know any extra travel costs up front.

Do you travel outside Greater London?

Yes – I do perform at selected events just outside London when the schedule allows, especially in popular nearby areas like St Albans, Hertfordshire and Surrey venues. If you're not sure whether your venue counts as "London" for pricing, just send the postcode when you enquire and I'll confirm everything for you.

I regularly perform as a: Wedding magician in London – drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening reception, Corporate magician – conferences, awards nights, staff parties, trade shows and client events, Party magician – milestone birthdays, house parties, garden parties and private celebrations, Family & children's magician – family days, children's parties and school events. If you're planning something a bit unusual, I'm always happy to hear about it and suggest what would work best.

Most events are a mix of: Close-up magic (cards, coins and impossible objects happening in guests' hands), Mind-reading and mentalism (thought-of words, names and choices revealed), Visual moments that work brilliantly for photos and social media. For smaller groups I also offer a short parlour show, where everyone watches the same routine at once. For children's events, I adapt the material and pacing to be age-appropriate and family-friendly.

Typical bookings are: 1.5–2 hours of close-up magic for smaller events, 2–3 hours for larger weddings and corporate events, 45–60 minutes for a structured parlour or kids' show. If you're not sure how long you need, tell me roughly how many guests you're expecting and I'll recommend the simplest option.

How many guests can you cover?

As a rough guide: Around 50–80 guests can be well covered in 1.5–2 hours of close-up magic, For 100+ guests, I usually recommend 2–3 hours or a combination of close-up and a short show, If your event is particularly large, I can advise whether you'll get more value from extra time, a small show segment, or (if necessary) a second magician.

What do you need from the venue?

Close-up magic is very flexible. In most cases I only need: Enough space to comfortably move between guests or tables, Lighting bright enough that people can see what's happening, For a parlour or kids' show, a small clear area at the front and somewhere for guests to sit or stand. I don't usually need a PA system for close-up work. If your venue has any quirks (tight timings, multiple rooms, very loud music), just mention it when you enquire and I'll plan around it.

Are you insured and DBS checked?

Yes. I hold public liability insurance, and for work involving children, I can provide DBS check details on request. Many London venues ask for this as standard, so I'm happy to share it with your coordinator or organiser.

Yes – while my main focus is modern close-up magic and mind-reading for adults, the material is clean, family-friendly and adaptable. For events with lots of children, I can: Adjust the routines so younger guests are involved, Keep the pacing fast and visual, Avoid anything that feels too scary or intense. If your event is mainly a children's party, I can switch to a dedicated kids' magic format instead.
